The Town of Woodbury Water System has experienced flooding at the Woodbury Water Treatment Plant resulting in the POSSIBILITY of contamination of the plant’s treated water. NONE OF THIS WATER HAS LEFT THE PLANT. As a precautionary measure, we are asking customers to boil water before using for consumption. We expect this notice to be in effect for 48 hours beginning at 12:45am March 28, 2021 and expire at 12:45am March 30, 2021. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this problem.
-DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let is boil for 3 minutes, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
-Extended plant downtime resulting in excess usage of water storage reserve may lead to a loss of system pressure that could introduce disease- causing organisms in to the water system. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches. The symptoms above are not caused only by organisms in drinking water. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice.
-People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly may be at an increased risk. These people should seek advice from their health care providers about drinking water.
The Town of Woodbury Water Treatment Plant has been shut down until the plant has been completely disinfected. The length of this shut down may result in system pressure being lowered due to water storage usage. Once system pressure is restored, bacteriological tests will be conducted throughout the system. We will inform you when tests show no bacteria and you no longer need to boil your water. We anticipate resolving the problem within 48 HOURS FROM 12:45AM MARCH 28, 2021.

Please share this information with all other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly ( for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools and businesses).
